We Value Our Community

At the SPAC Lab, we love to connect with people and are always looking for ways to bring our research to the community. We believe one of the most important parts of our work as researchers is giving back to our local community. That's why we are seeking out partnerships with teachers, parents, and students in the Knoxville area to host workshops about vision science and visual illusions.

In our workshops, we aim to teach children the science behind various cool and wacky optical illusions. By showing how our brain is "tricked" by these illusions, we can use vision science to explain the unique ways we see the colors, shapes, and objects around us. Our goal with sharing this workshop is to encourage kids to be excited by science and remind them that regardless of who they are or where they come from, anyone can become a scientist. Our hope is that sharing the exciting world of scientific research with K-12 kids will inspire them to dream really, really big!

If you and/or your organization or institution are interested in having the SPAC lab host a workshop with your kiddos, connect with us using the contact form below.

We can't wait to hear from you!
